How’s it done? And what should someone say when someone loves someone How do you get honey from a tree How’s it go? That mystifying melody from long ago I can just recall the key of C How do get high Hang on to a balloon How do down You ride the morning moon How do you get to and fro Well that you ought to know You pack up all your things and go
How’s it work? And isn’t there a limit to where love can lurk How do you get honey from the sun Won’t somebody tell me how it’s done Baby, I just wanna hear you see you love me And if you don’t, I swear I make you sorry I’m gonna make you wish you’d never met me

about

Muller and Patton had often discussed their love of Brian Wilson’s “Smile”, the B-side of the Beatle’s “Abbey Road”, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and other uninterrupted pieces of rock music, made up of smaller movements. In the summer of 2005, Jaye Muller demoed hundreds of lyric-less melodic fragments, and handed it over to Ben Patton. Patton added a bunch of his own melodies to the mix, and set about the task of assembling the fragments into quasi-operatic suites.

Jaye and Ben authored a coming-of-age story about a girl named Bailey, and Ben wove the story into enigmatic, ambiguous lyrics. A series of crude demos were made, and in June 2006, over the course of two frenzied weeks, the duo recorded the entire album.

Orchestral overdubs followed in July, introducing the tones of flute, baritone sax, trumpet, and, courtesy of Romanian prodigy violinist Tudor Andrei, exquisite violin.

Paying tribute to their heroes, Muller and Patton mastered their opus at Abbey Road Studios, London.
